SMD BOXi, on the other hand, embeds directly into the SMT pick-and-place line and connects seamlessly with placement machines for zero-transport supply. SMD BOXi communicates with placement machines in real time through the SMF platform. When a placement machine sends a material demand signal, BOXi automatically retrieves the corresponding reel and delivers it directly to the placement feeder station, all without manual intervention. The two-tier architecture follows a “line-side instant supply + centralized management” approach: BOXi serves as line-side storage deployed next to the production line, holding high-frequency materials for immediate supply; XLR serves as central storage holding the complete inventory. The SMF platform orchestrates both tiers. When BOXi line-side inventory falls below the threshold, it automatically triggers replenishment from XLR central storage (via AGV), with no manual monitoring required.
What are the production line layout requirements for BOXi?
SMD BOXi features a compact design specifically engineered to fit standard SMT line spacing. Before deployment, Neotel engineers conduct an on-site survey to confirm line spacing, placement machine models, and feeder station positions to develop the optimal inline installation plan. Only standard 220V power is required, with no additional infrastructure modifications. For particularly tight line layouts, installation positions can be flexibly adjusted.
How does BOXi work with AGVs?
In the two-tier architecture, AGVs primarily handle material transport between XLR central storage and BOXi line-side storage. When the SMF platform detects BOXi needs replenishment, it automatically dispatches an AGV to retrieve the corresponding reels from XLR and deliver them to BOXi, fully unmanned. Return materials can also be automatically transported from BOXi back to XLR central storage via AGV. AGV integration is achieved through standard RESTful API, compatible with major AGV manufacturers.
